FAQ

  • Q1. How often we should check the air pressure?

As a thumb rule we should check the Tyre inflation at least once a month. Always check/adjust the inflation in Cold Condition. Tyre inflation may vary with car models, Car manufacture provides the standard pressure, which is commonly available on User Manual or RH side Door placard.

  • Q2. How important is to keep correct tyre pressure?

Correct Tyre inflation is most important aspect of tyre maintenance, incorrect pressure may cause multiple conditions like Irregular Tyre Wear, Structural Damages and it also affects the tyre life and your vehicle’s fuel efficiency.

  • Q3. Do we need to rotate our Tyres?

All tyres in your vehicle getting worn out at different rate. To get even tread wear in all the tyres, it is advisable to rotate the tyre at every 8,000 to 10,000 Km. It will also help you to achieve smooth/balanced ride and handling.
For detailed tyre rotation methods you may refer the vehicle’s user manual.

  • Q4. What is Wheel Alignment?

Wheels alignment is adjustment of Suspension and Steering Components. To keep these setting as per manufacturer specification, we should get it inspected/adjusted at every 5,000 Km.
Improper wheel alignment settings may lead to uneven tyre wear or poor steering response.

  • Q5. When we should replace our tyres?

All Radial tyres equipped with Tread Wear Indicators (1.6 mm) which is molded on Tyre Tread at various location. Once the tyre tread worn out up to these wear indicators, it is the time for your tyre replacement. It should also be replaced in case of any structural damage. If only two tyres are being replaced, the two new tyres should always be installed on the rear of the vehicle to aid in preventing your vehicle from hydroplaning, even if your car is front wheel drive.

  • Q6. Can I use different tyre size in my car?

All tyre in your car should be of same size designation, construction and pattern unless it has been recommended by the Car Manufacturer. Never mix Radial or Cross-Ply tyre on same axle.

  • Q7. Can I repair the tyre puncture/Damages?

Minor tyre punctures caused by nail holes up to ¼ inch can be repaired, any damage outside the tread should not be repaired. Tyre repair should only be done by trained professional. FTI strongly recommends use of “Plug & Patch” type repair, only Plug or only Patch is not recommended.

  • Q8. My Vehicle has vibrations, what should I do?

An out of balance wheel and tyre assembly may cause vibrations or shimmy, this may leads to uneven/irregular tyre wear, wear and tear to your car suspension components. Hence it is recommended to get the Wheel balanced at first mounting or after any subsequent repair or demounting.

  • Q9. Do Nitrogen is beneficial then compressed air.

Air contains almost 78% of Nitrogen, hence Nitrogen is just dry air after removal of oxygen & some other impurities & moisture. Being Nitrogen is an inert gas, its molecules are larger than Oxygen hence it helps to retain air pressure slightly longer. We still advise to check tyre pressure at least once a month, Nitrogen can be mixed with normal air.

  • Q10. What is Plus Sizing/Inch-up?

Plus sizing your wheels and tires is one of the easiest ways to dramatically change the looks of your vehicle. Falken recommends no more than a 3% +/- change in the replacement tires’ overall diameter, so as to remain as close to O.E. specifications as possible and keep your vehicle’s odometer, speedometer, and anti-lock braking system (ABS) functioning correctly, as well as keeping sufficient ground clearance.
The plus sized tire’s load index must also be equal to or greater than the O.E. tires’ load index or be able to effectively carry load at a PSI listed on the Load and Inflation Table. Falken Tyre also recommends that the speed rating of the replacement tires must always equal or exceed the original equipped tires.
